Hello, Again
I know, I know ... it’s been forever. Almost three years, actually. But didn’t I say from the beginning that this wasn’t going to be one of those “I’ll write something once a week” spaces?
That’s the whole unscripted thing ...
Although, to be fair, I don’t think any of us expected the script to include a three-year intermission. But here we are. 😂
Today, I’m here not because I woke up feeling like I had something to say, but because something happened today, and the Lord won’t allow me to keep it to myself. I suppose it’s going to be a blessing to somebody, so I’m just walking in obedience and allowing God to do the rest.
Today, I attended an event believing it was going to be a team-building/professional development thing for our church leadership team, but it was certainly NOT THAT. In all honesty, the content had me spending a portion of the time battling between my flesh and my spirit, a portion of the time fighting back tears and feeling like I had no business being in that room, and a portion of the time actually doing what I came there to do and receiving valuable information for our ministry. What a whirlwind those four hours were. 😂
I won’t get into the details of the content, but what I’m being led to share is this reminder: Comparison is always going to be the thief of joy.
You may not have generations of believers or people who came before you who can pour into you ... you may not have traditions or belongings that have been passed down to you ... you may even feel like you’ve inherited more negative things and traits from your bloodline than good ones. Don’t allow any of that to make you question the God you serve or the legacy you’re able to build in Christ.
It’s a blessing to have that, but it’s also a blessing to walk in your story. You may be the first person in your family who is making a decision to follow Jesus and be bold in your faith. You may not be the first person in your family to follow Jesus, but you may be the first to minister the Gospel or make disciples in the ways that God has entrusted you to do. You may not have the experience of having people in your family teach you about the Lord, but you have experienced the unmatched and undying love of Christ for yourself.
I attended Catholic school & church up until a certain age, and (no shade) I didn’t feel much of anything. I sang the hymns and checked things off the checklist of things I was supposed to do, but I didn’t experience God for myself until I was in college and had lived a little life. The Lord met me as a young person in one of my most broken seasons. He has been my firm foundation and has brought me alongside those He wanted to use to help me build my faith.
God is able to meet you where you are, no matter what your pathway is to Him.
You may or may not have children or grandchildren to impart to in your future, but the Lord can always use you to lead with love, share the Gospel, and encourage others through your story.
That's all for today. I hope that whoever reads this is blessed.
Sincerely,
Cece
